About the Program
Start-Up Chile is a unique initiative of the Chilean Government to attract world-class early stage entrepreneurs to launch their businesses in Chile.
The program is looking for entrepreneurs with innovative and high-growth business plans, who have the potential of introducing innovative technology into their particular industry or the global market.
As a pilot program, 25 entrepreneurs will be selected and offered 1-yr resident visa, a $40,ooo USD [1] grant to cover expenses for six months, and a local network of support and tools.
Applicants will undergo a highly competitive screening process overseen by an advisory board headed by some of Silicon Valleyʼs most respected experts in entrepreneurship, innovation and venture capitalism.
Since Chile is probably new to most participants, access to local talent and networks through NGOs, business incubators and successful Chilean entrepreneurs will be facilitated in various forms– providing the best resource to access top-notch engineers and scientists at competitive costs.
Why Chile?
There is an active venture capital industry in Chile seeking high-potential projects. Start-Up Chile will arrange meetings with angel investors and venture capital funds, as well as assist with other public instruments currently available. We want to maximize the odds for a successful A/B series.
A group of experienced mentors will help to accelerate the business plan’s execution with the goal to maintain the entrepreneur on the right track and, most importantly, to find global success.
The program office in Santiago will guide each entrepreneur to a safe “landing” helping to open bank accounts, obtaining a Chilean ID, understand the legal and tax system, while also providing temporary office space.
